Anyone here into making felt hats

I'm wondering if there are others here who enjoy making felt hats?

A good friend of mine has been working with hides for quite a while, he's made belts, purses, holsters, and a bunch of other things. Recently, he got interested in felt hats after watching some videos. His first attempt was a classic western-style hat made from hare fur felt, and he even crafted the hat band himself. Honestly, it turned out amazing for his first try!

Is anyone else experimenting with hat making or considering giving it a go? I'd love to see what you've created or hear about how you got started

That sounds amazing! Your friend's first hare felt hat is a great choice for their first try! I've worked on a few wool felt projects too, but I haven't attempted hare yet. I'm curious, what kind of block is he using for shaping? And did he wet-felt it or steam shape it? I'd love to see a picture! Is there anyone else here who's into hat making?

I've been messing around with leather projects but haven't made a felt hat yet. Your friend's hare fur western sounds really cool. Did he buy a ready-made hat shape or start from plain felt? And how did he shape the top, did he use steam or a mold?
