I was asked to copy the blue Arwyn dress. Below is the a photo of the original dress.

And after the fun of figuring it out, I went fabric shopping. That was such a nice evening. And with a few patterns and pieces, this is the lady wearing the dress I made.

What do you think? She was very happy with it. And I was able to make it for less than her maximum budget.
 
The dark part is velvet. I am contemplating the pink bubble dress from Wicked for the next costume.
 
That is beautiful as heck, a pretty good job indeed. Can you share the kind of fabric you used? And the budget range too if you can.
 
I think for the patterns and fabric for all of it, $300 or less. All but the bride's fabric was from a rather discount place. Then we ordered 12 yards of fabric for her dress, and that may have been around $100 of the $300 guesstimate. And I did have fabric left over from the bride's dress. We made it a bit less full than it could have been.
 
The materials were about $200 and then I charged her some for making it. She had budgeted $600 and she only spent a little more than $300 to make it.
I did get the fabric during a JoAnn's sale with coupons to hold the cost down.
 
Good replication of that outfit, Mary. How long did it take you to make it?

You did an amazing job, I really admire how you used the velvet! You were smart to buy fabric during sales and stay well within your budget. The pink bubble dress sounds like a fun project to tackle next, and I'm really looking forward to seeing how you create that one

This becomes even more impressive when you understand that this was done after hours and still managed to do it in a month. Good job. Have you considered this as a business? Like a real business?
 
I agree that working and doing that is remarkable. I'd never be able to make it, much less while holding down a full-time job, too.
