Making frank mask from donnie darko from scratch

Recently, I made my own frank mask from Donnie darko. It still needs a little finishing, but I just want to share with everyone here about the process, it really works! Here's how to do it:

1. Sculpt the Base:
   • I use this clay called Chavant Monu-Melt
   • Start by blocking out the main shapes.
   • Use numerous reference pics (including the original production masks pics).
2. Texturing:
   • Replicate rake marks and tooling marks seen on original masks.
   • Add a pore texture using ball stylus tools.
   • Soften the texture with a chip brush for a unified look.
3. Create a Junk Mold (silicone mold) to remove the sculpt from the armature.
4. Make a Resin Cast using the junk mold to create a slush cast with rigid urethane resin.
5. Sculpt the Back using epoxy clay to sculpt the back (face) side of the mask onto the resin cast.
6. Create the Final Mold:
   • Make a two-part brush-on mold (front and back).
   • Add eye holes and a breathing hole under the teeth (replicating the original design).
7. Cast the Mask:
   • Use a rigid expanding foam for lightness and stability.
   • Skin the foam with a thin layer of rigid urethane resin.
   • Use a single pour spout and two small vent holes.
8. Paint and Finish:
   • Apply metallic silver acrylic paint for the silver appearance.
   • Add a dark wash to enhance sculpting details.
   • Coat the teeth and eyes with a glossy clear your frank mask from donnie darko, aaand done!

sounds like an awesome project especially when you shared your detailed process which really shows the effort you put into replicating the original design the steps with the molds and casting are impressive and using metallic silver acrylic paint for the finishing adds that perfect touch i bet the final piece will look amazing once it's fully done great job with sharing the whole method!
