trying to put together a will turner costume but info is all over the place found some reference pics but no solid breakdown on how to get everything right anyone here got experience with this looking for tips on the coat belt and overall layering also not sure on the best materials to use without breaking the bank any help would be solid

For a solid will turner costume, you would want to focus on layering and texture. Get a long frock-style coat (dark brown or deep red) from a thrift store or surplus shop. Pair it with a loose white shirt, dark vest, and worn-looking brown or gray pants.
For accessories, go with a wide leather belt plus a thinner one for a sword and knee high boots. Linen or cotton works for the shirt, wool or canvas for the coat, and faux or real leather for belts. Distress everything for a more authentic look. and also are you aiming for a specific movie version or just his general style?

This guy before me already said most things you need so props to you man @intovalhalla. Materials of the coat should be cotton twill, wool blend, or you can honestly even do with heavy canvas. For the DIY touch, just age it with sandpaper then do paint washes. For the shirt it's pretty simple. Just find a loose white cream poet or pirate shirt. Maybe you can even get the exact one on eBay :)

Will Turner's outfit is all about the layers. You can start with a loose white shirt, a vest, some decent fitted pants, and tall boots. On top of that, wear a long coat in dark brown or gray. A wide fake leather belt should be fine to tie it all together, bonus if you have a sword ha ha. You can find most of these stuff at thrift stores. Best of luck dude
